Meanings of the Maritime Signal Flags.
Letter and Meaning Flag
A - Diver below (when stationary); I am undergoing a speed trial. A
B - I am taking on or discharging explosives. B
C - (affirmative). C
D - keep clear of me, I am manoevering with difficulty. D
E - I am altering my course to starboard. E
F - I am disabled, communicate with me. F
G - I require a pilot. G
H - I have a pilot on board. H
I - I am altering my course to port. I
J - I am going to send a message by semaphore. J
K - you should stop your vessel immediately. K
L - you should stop, I have something important to communicate. L
M - I have a doctor on board. M
N - no (negative). N
O - man overboard. O
P - the Blue Peter - all aboard, vessel is about to proceed sea. (At sea) your lights are out or burning badly. P
Q - my vessel is healthy and I request free practique. Q
R - the way is off my ship. You may feel your way past me. R
S - my engines are going full speed astern. S
T - do not pass ahead of me. T
U - you are standing into danger. U
V - I require assistance (not distress). V
W - I require medical assistance. W
X - stop carrying out your intentions and watch for my signals. X
Y - I am carrying mails. Y
Z - to be used to address or call shore stations. Z
