Broads take a step back in time.

Sunday July 30th 10am - 4:30pm.

A 101 year-old trading wherry, a marshman and Edwardian boat trips, will enable the public to relive the past of the Broads at a special family fun day at Stalham on Sunday July 30th.

The event, "A Step Back in Time" is being held at Stalham Staithe at the Museum of the Broads from 10am to 4:30pm.

There will be free admission to the museum, which depicts Broads history and boat design through the centuries, with exhibitions, waterside exhibits and a video.

Visitors are invited to take one of the few opportunities this year to step aboard the 101-year old trading wherry, Maud, who was re-launched last year after 18 years of restoration.

The Broads Authority marsham, Eric Edwards, will give a traditional reed-cutting demonstration, and display his historic eel catching and thatching tools.

Boat trips aboard and Edwardian electric launch and a river launch will run from the staithe. Here the Nutmeg Puppet Company will perform the premiere of its new show, commissioned by the Broads Authority, "The Blooming Weed", which carries an environmentally friendly message.

There will also be entertainment by the Golden Star Morris Dancers, a chance to meet a river inspector, face painting, children's activities and refreshments.

Admission for most of the events is free.
