A series of personal watercraft road shows will be travelling the country during March to promote the effective management of personal watercraft - sometimes known as wet bikes or jet skis - to local authorities, harbour masters, marine police and coastguards. Organised by the British Marine Industries Federation (BMIF), in association with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), teh road shows will present 'Managing Personal Watercraft', a guide produced by the BMIF and RYA for local and harboiur authorities. The presentation will also cover areas such as training, insurance, craft identification and zoning. The road shows will offer the opportunity for delegates to go out on the water to experience what personal watercraft are like to handle. All four major personal watercraft brands - Kawasaki, Seadoo, Polaris and Yamaha - will be represented together with other companies active in the personal watercraft market. "This is the fourth consecutive year that we've run these road shows and the response from those attending has been extremely positive," commented Howard Pridding, BMIF Executive Director. "Personal Watercraft are just another type of boat and we are keen to work with local authorites and hrbour masters to demonstrate how local management can work in the best interests of teh community and other water users". The road shows will allow local authorities, harbour masters and others to discuss the impact that Personal Watercraft have in their area and learn more about how they can be effectively managed.
