The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is looking for cyclists to saddle up and join their team for the South African Caper taking place later this year. The South Caper 2000 is back by popular demand and runs from 6-15 October through the spectacular scenery of South Africa's coastline. A 400km route will take cyclists through moss-hung forests to wild and beautiful beaches, with the opportunity to meet South African lifeboat crews en route. Last year, Dorset man Neil Maton took part and says 'It was one of the greatest weeks of my life. The ride was challenging and the scenery was absolutely incredible. The whole team got on really well and the evenings were as much fun as the cycling and at the end of the day, we all helped support a lifesaving service' Cyclists will be well looked after and the main objective is to raise money for the volunteer lifeboat crews. Each team member will be expected to raise money through sponsorship to cover the cost of the trip and a donation to the RNLI. In return team members will have the full support of challenge leaders and mechanics. Mountain bikes are included, together with flights, food and accommodation. If you are interested in joining the team for the RNLI's South Caper, please contact Phillipa Thompson on 01202 663441. |
