The World Cruising Club (WCC) is launching a new internet service which will offer automated tracking of ocean-going cruising yachts.   This will apply to all yachts fitted with Inmarsat C and Inmarsat D+.   Positions will be polled daily and displayed on a dedicated web site, enabling family and fans to keep up to date with progress, and yachts with email capability will be able to relay their position manually for more frequent updates.

The technology will initially be used for events organised by the WCC, however it will be made available to other organisers, and even to individuals which should prove popular with small crews on long voyages - and those they leave behind.
